Motorola 484095-001-00 Review by Donald Harmening "DonBruce" (SW Missouri)

I live 7 miles from Springfield Missouri and the digital signals were freezing up regularly. I have a fairly high roof antenna, no cable or dish. And I could not get public tv at all on one of my tvs. So I purchased this device with high hopes. My 2 tvs still freeze up and I still can't get public tv on one of the two tvs. I was very disappointed in this so called signal amplifier.

Bought this Amp to boost the digital TV signal coming from my old antenna.
Got zero channels before installing it. Now I get 3 networks + PBS + plenty
of cheesey local channels. So it works well and my wife no longer bugs me
to stop being a cheapskate and get cable.

Motorola 484095-001-00 Review by Sean Ryan (Charleston, SC)

I have a Winegard FV-HD30 on the roof on my old DTV mast, running down the side of the house and through the wall directly behind the main TV. I then was piping the signal either directly in to the TV, or in to my Sony FW laptop that has a AVerTV MTVEXMINI card in it, using Windows Media Center on Windows 7 to actually watch TV.

When I would run the signal to the TV, the picture looked great, with no freezing. When running in to the computer, the signal was terrible to non-existent on most channels.

I put this signal booster in the run after it was already in the house. I now get 5 of the 7 channels through the computer without issue. Of the two remaining, one has issues when it is raining, and the other is still a pretty bad signal. Of course, direct to the TV, everything is fantastic.

I am assuming the the TV card is degrading the signal, but before I replace that, I am going to move this booster up the line, putting it in the initial drop from the antenna outside the house, to see if that improves the overall quality of the weakest channel and/or clears the rain issue on the other.

Overall, it has done what it needed to do - I am now well on my way to migrating fully to 7MC thanks to this little guy. I will give an update once I have a chance to try it out earlier in the line.
